Although she provided a way to bathe a baby while still in the hospital, you may still feel apprehensive when I had to do it yourself at home. Many mothers prefer to bathe their babies with washlap cotton the first few weeks. After feeling more confident, then they really bathe in the tub.
No matter if you only use washlap. Do it this way in a warm room and cover the baby with a towel to dry.
Necessary to bathe your baby
Bathing the baby would be easier if you’re ready. So before you start, prepare the following equipment:
- Baby tub (if there is a buffer provided or rubber body so that the baby shower is not easy to slip). Put a comfortable place suitable high temperature and the room that does not make you sick waist.
- Water thermometer
- Washlap soft or baby bath sponge
- Baby towel
- Equipment to clean the umbilical cord (bandages, cotton, Betadine, plasters, cotton buds)
- Equipment to be used after a bathing (baby clothes, diapers, powder, baby oil, etc.)
Bathing your baby – step by step
- Prepare a bath tub of water with the amount and temperature sufficient for a baby (about 30-32 degrees celsius)
- Set also the shower room temperature so that the baby was not cold.
- Put the baby in the bathtub or on the buffer. Wet body slowly and clean eyes, ears, face, and folds her body with a soft cloth.
- Use a special soap for baby’s body, gently rinse with water.
- If the baby’s hair should be washed, do the above taffel baby before the baby is put into the tub. Crutch head and shoulders with a forearm. Clean the foam pat on the head with a wet cloth, just rinse until clean.
- During the bath, take your baby to talk or sing songs that soothe.
- When finished, lift the baby with a warm towel and dry him.
If you are still in doubt, midwife or doctor will show you how to bathe your baby the most suitable for you. Once you master it, you’ll feel confident to do it.
