Plans to buy soap or shampoo for your baby? Did you know that in a study conducted by the Analytical Sciences (an independent laboratory in Petaluma, California, United States) early in 2009, was 32 of 48 baby bath products contain carcinogens that can cause cancer?

Background Research
In early 2009, Analytical Sciences 48 products examined in the context of a baby shower “The Campaign for Safe Cosmetics”. It turned out that among 32 products containing 1,4-dioxane and 23 of them contain small amounts of formaldehyde. Even the 17 products shown to contain both elements of this chemical.
Baby bath products that are contaminated are not limited to soaps and shampoos, but also other products such as lotions, bath bubbles, liquid soap, toothpaste, wet tissue, as well as sun block for your baby.
What danger and How Can There In Baby Bath Products?
According to the Environmental Protection Agency United States, the two chemical elements on the suspected cause of cancer and was not intentionally added to these products.

Both these elements appear due to chemical manufacturing process, so you will not find 1,4-dioxane and formaldehyde in the list of ingredients on all packaging of this product. A different study in 1982 conducted by the FDA showed that 1,4-dioxane contained in the lotion can penetrate and soak into the skin of humans and formaldehyde can trigger allergic reactions in some sensitive people.
Manufacturer Response
Among the contaminated product is a chemical element 2 famous products from Johnson & Johnson, the Johnson & Johnson Baby Shampoo and Baby Magic Lotion. In a statement, Johnson & Johnson stated that, “FDA and government agencies around the world think that the contents of which are included in the product is safe and we have escaped from the requirements and regulations in each country where these products are sold . ”
They also added, “We are disappointed because the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics has been wrong in assessing the safety of our products, have been opposed by the consensus of expert researchers and government research agencies have reviewed the security of our products contain ingredients, and has made many parents panic. ”
On the other hand, Stacy Malkan, a spokeswoman for the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics said, “We do not intend to make parents panic, but to inform them that the products that claim to soft and naturally was contaminated by the carcinogen, which is actually totally not need to. ”
Malkan also said that although levels of these chemicals include both low, the problem is small amounts of carcinogens found in MANY products and these products are used EVERY DAY, so that could be dangerous, too.
Thus, Malkan said, “These products are not the safest and most natural – and their parents should know this.”
What Should You Do?
Japan and Sweden have banned the use of formaldehyde in the products personal care. The EU has also banned the use of 1,4-dioxane. While the FDA (Food and Drug Administration – United States) has not set safety limits use of these two elements in personal care products and still considers that the amount of existing content is not harmful.
Malkan himself for this moment suggest that you choose a baby bath products that contain less material. To remember that yes … There are fewer materials (ingredients) is better and safer …
